LaserTank Improved: a new project by me

I've been wanting to do this for quite a while... finally put something together, though it isn't playable just yet.
I've successfully disassembled the LTG, LVL, HS/GHS and LPB formats, so I can make this new thing able to load them. The biggest planned changes, relative to the current LaserTank, are as follows:
- Raising the 65535 step limit for LPB files
- New objects
- Runs on both macOS and Windows
- Alternate projectiles for the tank to shoot
- Bigger levels: Grid can be up to 24x24x9, with stairs up/down, springs and pits as ways of navigating between floors
- Versioned file formats, so that future changes do not break compatibility as much
- All translations in one package, with the ability to add new ones later
- Multiple concepts entirely new to LaserTank
Here's a link to the project's
GitHub repository. A lot of this stuff needs to be fleshed out, including documentation!

Pretty exciting! That's a lot of changes you've listed. It'll really be a different game altogether.
24×24 will mean a significant increase in potential complexity over 16×16 and that's without adding in a third dimension.
Intrigued by what the new objects, projectiles, and concepts will be.
Keep us posted.

Hi,
About the board side: I suggest keep 16*16. It is complicated enough.
About the new objects: I strongly suggest add some things HARMFUL to our LT(like water, solid block, not tunnel, ice, mirror, AT(yes i think it is useful to LT because it can be moved to 3 derections, and if an author wants to make it harmful he should edit some grounds on the map and fasten the AT)). We need a ballance and now harmful things are less than useful things.

Of course bricks, ground, and flag are usually useful to LT. Thin ice is somehow harmful; Tankmover is hard to judge. So you see we need harmful new objects.

I suggest 4-direction Antitank.

There are new harmful objects... water, for instance, is joined by deep water, deeper water and deepest water, requiring 2, 3, or 4 boxes to fill instead of 1. Similarly, lava, sand and acid exist, are all dangerous to tanks, and have varying restrictions on what can be used to fill them with. I have plans to add new kinds of objects that shoot at you, but those are post-1.0...

The first pre-release is out. Don't expect much... it runs, but not much else works.

Thanks, it's been on the back burner thanks to Fantastle Reboot, another game in the works. I am definitely returning to it, since I managed to forget it was out there. Appreciate the feedback.
